Basketball Development coaching staff:
Matt brings a wealth of elite level playing experience to the academy. He played representative basketball for the Werribee Devils Senior Championship team from 2002 – 2014. In 2002 he finished 3rd in the Victorian junior classics and finished runners up overall in the Victorian basketball league. In 2003 he won a VBL men’s championship at the age of 14 and in 2004 was Runners up. In 2004 he won a national title at the Australian school boys championship, was named in the Mackillop College hall of fame and he was also named in Iramoo quarter team of the century all in the same year. In 2005 he travelled America and Canada to play against all the best high schools in the country and in 2007/08 he was training with the NBL Melbourne Tigers squad. Matt is passionate in development junior athletes to in sport and also develop links with sport in their future.
Ed first began basketball coaching with Caulfield Grammar School back in 2013. He then networked with the McKinnon Cougars basketball club, where he coached between 2013-2017 in the VJBL and assisted their VYCM team in the BigV competition. During this time, Ed was presented with opportunities to be involved with McKinnon’s State Performance Program (SPP), the U18/20 National Intensive Training Program (NITP) out in the Dandenong Satellite and the U15 Vic Metro White team at the Southern Cross Challenge in 2017.
Currently, Ed has an Association Coach Accreditation (NCAS level 2) in basketball and am an assistant coach with the Nunawading Spectres VYCM team since mid 2017.
