Manor Lakes College has an AFL Development Program for talented sports students in Years 7 and 8. The program is conducted two sessions a week and replaces normal PE classes, with students learning what it is like to train in an Elite AFL environment.
We have a close partnership with North Melbourne Football Club and Werribee Football Club, and will have access to North Melbourne players as well as elite facilities to train in. Students will also have a chance to be on North Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy list to train under the watchful eye of North Melbourne development officers.
The curriculum will have strong links in a range of areas across the Victorian Curriculum and will cover topics such as skill acquisition, strength and conditioning, recovery, leadership, coaching and Gaelic football.
Selection for both the Year 7 and Year 8 AFL classes is via application form. Forms have been sent out to all Grade 6 students and given out at Year 7 assembly this week. However, if your child did not receive one and is interested in applying for the program, please contact Jayne Harsley, Enrichment Program Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, your child can collect one directly from Jayne in Illawarra Learning House.
